Provincial Team-Staff Reflection on the Year
Annual Report to the Province, 2012-2013
The Provincial Team and staff are happy to give this account of our service to the Society of the Sacred Heart, United States Province, now United States – Canada Province. This is a collaborative project of the team and staff and is written as a joint effort among this group. It is not an exhaustive report on everything that has happened in the last year, but rather a reflection on how we have tried to build on the hopes that we articulated in the beginning of the year and how we have helped promote the goals of our province strategic plan, sometimes through our own work, but most often through the efforts of the members of the province and our colleagues.
On this special site you will find:
1. Our HOPES as a Provincial Team in August 2012
2. A short narrative on each goal from the strategic plan. (accessible from the navigation menu above)
3. Links to the Strategies and Action Steps taken in the last year and reported in the quarterly reports. (viewable in pdf form from each page)
This site is a reflection on the various aspects of our life, using the areas covered by the Strategic Plan as a guideline. The report is most easily read on this website, but it can also be read as a stand-alone, shorter document.
How we used the Strategic Plan as a guide
The United States Province, under the leadership of Paula Toner and her team, developed a strategic planning document for the period of time 2009-2014. When the current provincial leadership team began our mandate in August, 2012, we continued to use this document as a guideline and measure for our work, with the freedom to both augment the existing strategies and to identify and implement new strategies and action steps as appropriate. Under the leadership of Melanie Guste, the director of planning for the province, the team and staff together reviewed the planning document quarterly, reporting on action steps that had been initiated or completed as well as projecting any new actions. The document served us well as a way to track the accomplishment of the goals and action steps. While it was a challenge for a new leadership team to use a document that they did not create as a guide, we discovered that the plan did not in any way limit our moving forward with the hopes and plans we identified for this year.

Question for your
own reflection:
1. As I read these reflections and the actions taken, were there other things that came to my mind?
2. Do I have goals in this area in my own life?
3. What has happened in this area in my own life during the last year?
